About 20 percent of the housing market within the community is resale
property and the remainder is new construction. Options include traditional
one and two level single-family dwellings, villas, townhouses and condominiums.
Typical residences are hidden away in wooded enclaves or overlook a golf
fairway or lakeshore. Architectural characteristics tend to blend well
with the rustic setting.
Take Good Care of Yourself
Rutherford Hospital, a private not-for-profit facility in Rutherfordton,
serves the entire county and beyond, and is the most accessible institutional
health care program in the Lake Lure area. It has a 143 bed capacity,
all in private rooms, and a full complement of specializations, including
cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, psychiatry, mammography, occupational
medicine, and oncology. In addition, it operates a family medicine and
urgent care clinic with the Fairfield compound itself. Pardee Memorial
Hospital in Hendersonville is a full service, 222 bed community hospital
with an additional 40 bed extended care unit. It underwent a major expansion
in 1996. A second medical facility a few miles north in Fletcher is the
103 bed Park Ridge Hospital, with a full range of general, acute and surgical
care components. Less than an hour away in Asheville, there are larger
institutions and more specialized services to meet virtually any health
care requirement.
